This year Sue and I hope to be able to reach out to our old friends as well as make loads of new friends, to fill up our days capturing happiness, laughter and cheer. 2014 has been an absolutely amazing year for us and we excelled in almost all aspects of our business. Our weddings were perfectly spread throughout the year, intermingled with lots of newborns, portraits, boudoirs, workshops and this year an exceptional amount of corporate work from clients old and new.
For 2015 we have already booked more weddings than we did through 2014 which is fantastic, our January promises to be our busiest ever which is odd considering we spend last January in Florida. We are both oddly excited about spending January in the UK and we already have a list of about 8 Tesco jobs for January as well as 2 more full corporate days for new clients so once again 2015 looks like we will be building on our corporate work which we both enjoy.
This year we plan to expand on our newborns once again with new props and accessories already ordered as well as a couple of new ideas for backdrops and lighting, we both adore our newborn shoots so it makes sense to invest in these again and we constantly receive great feedback which is lovely, This year we also have a new workflow that we are putting into place much like our wedding workflow which should help our clients printing and sharing.
We are planning a new Boudoir website as well as possibly a corporate website, we had planned to do these in the last quarter of 2014 but we just got too busy, mostly me cycling haha but seriously work was amazing so these things were put on hold for a little while. Other than these 2 we are very happy with our web presence and continue to receive around 1000 unique and new hits most weeks and often many more. Thankfully 2014 was another year where we never had to advertise 🙂 this makes me very happy.
Our weddings for 2015 start in February and we are both excited about this early start to the year, we have lots of new venues to photograph as well as a few old favourites like Rhinefield House and Lainston House and Cain Manor and this year again we are so honoured to be photographing weddings of families whom we have already worked with. we will continue to push our weddings because this is the part of our job we both love the most, again we get about 80% of our weddings from recommendations and the remaining from people stumbling across our work, I cant tell you how proud this makes me and I think this drives us forward to continually improve what we do both photographically and in the way that we work at our weddings, when I say work I mean the way we both socialise with people at our weddings 🙂
2014 was our busiest year for portraits too, I think largely down to some amazing offers and of course our great work which I refuse to compromise on. Apart from a new Christmas canvas backdrop we have no plans to change anything so we will continue to run some superb offers starting with January so keep an eye out or msg us for details. Once again we photographed people of all ages from the very young to the very old and we loved them all, we met some absolutely amazing people who previously had some bad experiences with photographers and managed to turn that around which is an awesome feeling and above all we made some great new friends along the way.
Our workshops continue to trickle in and we do one or two a month on average ranging from portrait workshops through to our awesome landscape workshops, again this year we will continue as last.
On a personal note Sue and I have had a fab year, We both ran some amazing races starting in Florida and later in California, I ran my first full marathon and smashed it in under 3:30 so got my GFA (good for age) for Boston although due to later injuries I will not be running Boston this year, maybe 2016 🙂 I started the year with a fairly bad achilles injury and finished it with another ankle injury but I had so much fun in-between and ran hundreds of miles (683 to be precise which is half of last year but still great) , I also started cycling in October and its been my saviour, non impact and so much fun I think I have found me new “favourite waste of time” I love my bikes and the fact that Sue lets me ride as often as I wish and fully intend to continue this alongside my running in 2015. We have loved the garden again this year, new fences, paving and a new Bike Barn as well as loads of new planting, we also have plans to replace the greenhouse before the spring and I know Sue will be very happy about that. The kids are both doing great and we all managed to celebrate Christmas together albeit a week before the big day 🙂
Well thats about it apart from a huge Thank You to you all for your friendship and support through 2014. Please continue to spread the word about us to your friends and family coz without you all we are nothing 🙂 The year is new, our hopes are new, our aspirations are new, but our warm wishes for happiness and prosperity remains the same for you and your families. A very Happy New Year from all of us at Julian Porter Photography.
