Andy and Kimberley get married at Rivervale Barn

On what was a very cold and snowy Easter weekend we joined Kimberley and Andy for their wedding on the Saturday which was help at the lovely Rivervale Barn in Yately Nr Camberley,  Sue and I are very lucky in that we travel all around the UK photographing amazing weddings and one of our favourite venues of late has been Rivervale Barn, the light is amazing the grounds are just beautiful and together this makes for the most amazing wedding venue.

We started our day with Kimberley and the girls in the preparation bedroom for some lovely relaxed detail shots as well as Kimberley stepping into her beautiful wedding dress.  We then met with Andy and the boys, Andy, Andy, Andy and Liam,  yeah it was confusing:-) It was not too long before the harpist started playing and we were led into the ceremony room, First the bridesmaids and then our beautiful bride who looked simply breathtaking. As her Daddy walked her slowly down the isle she never once broke her gaze from Andy, it was so romantic and the silenced room just watched and watched.  After a lovely ceremony we headed back into the main barn for drinks and nibbles and then out into the chilly courtyard for family photos which we finished pretty smartish:-)

We then took Andy and Kimberley out into the gardens for some portraits where it was just starting to snow,  can you believe it Snow at Easter !!! thankfully it never came of anything and after a few lovely and very well planned portraits we headed back into the warn and into the beautifully decorated wedding breakfast. After a wonderful wedding breakfast and some rather emotional speeches we setup our Funtime fotos which is our wedding photo booth and we started the fun:-) we broke away to photograph the cake cutting which was a selection of lovely cupcakes and a top tier of lovelyness all covered in the most amazing sugar flowers. Then out to the Band for the first dance then back for the last hour to finish our Funtime before Sue and I said our goodbyes and headed off home after a very long but so much fun wedding day.

It would be wrong if I never game a massive shout out to everyone for making the day so much fun but none more that Andy and Kimberley,  cold and snowy goes so well with those warm and wonderful smiles.  Thank you X

Hampshire wedding photographer – John and Vicki get married at Manor Barn

On Friday we joined John and Vicki for there awesome wedding at Manor Barn in Buriton for what may well be one of Manor Barn’s last weddings because its up for sale for a cool 7 Million:-) It may well continue to be a wonderful hampshire wedding venue but we wont really be sure until they find a buyer which could take a while.

We started our day with Vicki and the gals at the “Old spot cottage” in the grounds for a couple of hours of champagne giggles and preps, lots of details and dressing and boy did Vicki have some details,  the most amazing shoes I have ever seen but you will see them later:-)

Both John and Vicki are creatives so the whole day was full of amazing detail from the shoes to the singing so much effort proved the right approach because the wedding was 100% top notch,  We met John and Vicki back when we photographed the wedding of our good friends Ash and Jo on a wet and windy August 1st and I can honestly say that was one of our best ever weddings,  John is an artist who paints some amazing paintings and a couple years ago he took one of our photography workshops you can read about it here, so we already had got to know him well,  Vicki is a music teacher and so jointly their creativity shone through today.

Anyway back to the wedding:-) during the preps we headed up to the 5 bells pub to meet John and the best man, well actually it was the best Dog:-) yep a lovely dog called Cohen was the best man and ring bearer ad very well behaved he was, we also saw a few of the lads and a few more details before heading back to Vicki and the girls,   Before long we all started walking to the beautiful Manor Barn to the waiting crowd of excited friends for the most amazing ceremony led by the registrar Alan fines who we met a few weeks ago at Kev and Steph’s wedding,  after the lovely ceremony with the most amazing music we headed outside into the sun, because of the forecast and cloud we headed promptly into family groups and luckily just finished as the rain started so we all headed inside for more champagne and canapés whilst we waited for the wedding breakfast,   we started the breakfast with speeches and they were lots of fun, we then had the most amazing meal and probably the best hog roast I have ever eaten, mainly because I got to eat lots of mine but also most of my great friend Sharon’s (ash’s mum) but more of Sharon later,   We made the most of the late summer weather and took John and vicki out between courses for a few portraits and after the mains to the duckpond to feed the ducks then after the desert some more speeches and one which was quite emotional broke into song,  it was wicked !

we then had a break so Sue and I setup our funtime fotos for the evening and started shooting those which went down very well indeed ad we had a few hours of fun:-) our funtime foto booth is always a crown pleaser and after months of discussions and a couple of polls Sue and I have decided against on-site printing but going with the digital photos, 80% of the people we spoke to said they would prefer a digital copy to use for family blogs and facebook rather than a 6″ x 4″ that quite frankly they would never show or use.

The singing then started and there was lots of it,  lots of Vicki’s students did solo’s and it was great,  the cake cutting was fun:-)then the first dance which was also sung by one of vicki’s students as a surprise to vicki and she was amazed as we all were because the singer simply nailed it !

Well it was an awesome wedding and we loved every minute of it,  our big thanks to Sharon who is without exception wins my best “wedding planner” prize,  Sharon worked continuously to make sure the day went as planned and once again helped Sue and I all day long, Thanks Sharon we both love you XX

Thanks to everyone else for a great day you were all fab, great to see you all, great to see our friends Ash, Jo, James and of course Sharon and I am sure we have made some new friends,  Thanks John and Vicki for being so much fun from our first meeting right through to the wheelbarrow incident Vicki;-) Loved Loved Loved your wedding

THANK YOU XX

Dorset wedding photographer – Leon and Emma get married at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel

Yesterday we joined Leon and Emma for their wedding at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel in Dorset, just miles from Bournemouth, this sunny waterfront haven is an idyllic location for a wedding, with uninterrupted panoramic views over the harbour, very few wedding venues can match the passion and beauty of this incredible setting and Leon and Emma choose the most amazing June day to get married.  We were recommended to Leon and Emma by Andy and Issy who you might remember from their Frisbee throwing wedding at Northbrook park a year ago:-) we were recommended to Andy and Issy by Gary and Karen who’s wedding we shot 5 years ago,  its a wonderful job we have and all along the way we make the most amazing friends and the best part is, with each wedding it starts all over again.

We started our day with Emma at home for an hour capturing a few lovely preparation shots and getting to know her parents and brother before we headed off to the Christchurch Harbour hotel to meet Leon and his best man for a couple of chilled shots pre ceremony,  Emma soon arrived in a beautiful Range Rover which suited the Christchurch Harbour hotel so well and walked into a silenced room in her absolutely stunning wedding dress, Leon later mentioned that he was speechless when he saw Emma for the first time today.

After a relaxed ceremony we were ushered out onto the terrace levels in what was perfect sunshine for a couple of hours of very chilled photos, we took a few family photos as well as key members and then took Leon and Emma off for a nice walk and soon enough we were being called into dinner but before anyone could enjoy their wedding breakfast we had the 3 speeches which were all entertaining, Emma’s Dads was very moving, Leon’s was great and the Best man is a Police officer so enough said;-) 3 great speeches.

After dinner Sue and I setup our Funtime Foto booth which is our take on a wedding photo booth ready for a fun evening, little did we realise just how much fun we were in for !  although there were only 60 or so guests we had the most amazing evening and shot long into the night, people were coming back again and again and I think its fair to say that Funtime Fotos was a 100% HIT:-)

In-between Funtimefotos we shot the first dance which finished the formalities for the day, back to funtime for an hour or so then Sue and I left exhausted but very very happy.

Thanks to Andy and Issy for your continued support and thank you to everybody for making me laugh so much that I had tears running down my face at times.

Jules x

My lucky Penny…..

Thanks to one of our wonderful clients/friends Rachel who gave Sue and I Alton Towers tickets we decided to have a few days away to use them and also to get a break mid wedding season. Through hook/crook we ended up staying at the Premier Inn Trentham Gardens for a couple of nights and after an amazing day at Alton Towers (thanks so much Rachel) we went for a wander around Trentham Gardens village shops to pick up a few FuntimeFoto props when we happened upon a little Bistro,  we wandered in to ask what the opening hours were and the waitress explained that the last meal was served around 9pm, I love the “around” so we left promising to return,   anyways after a few more hours we showered and walked over to David’s Brasserie, Trentham Gardens and OMG I am so pleased we did.

As most of you know from my previous musings Sue and I often eat out and thanks to our location in Hampshire and our amazing job I am pleased to say that we often eat at some of the countries top restaurants and have grown accustomed to amazing food, also having Chef Gary as one of our great friends means we have been proper spoilt when it comes to amazing dinners,  you all know how I rave about and love his food….

Anyway,  back to David’s Brasserie, tonight we chose the following, as we often do we chose the same:-)

Shared Mediterranean platter (V)
Feta, boursin, pimento peppers, olives and sun-blushed tomatoes served
with home-made houmous, salad garnish and flat bread

Chef’s roast of the day which was the most succulent lamb

with veg and spiced potatoes

Sticky toffee pudding

Well from start to finish it was sensational, very attentive staff but not overly “in your face”  a perfect mix of favours and combinations of foods such as raspberries in the salad with the starter, Genius!!!, OMG AMAZING and I can honestly say that its been many years since we have eaten this well our in a restaurant  if not ever, honestly if you are within 50  miles of  stoke you just have to get up here and try it, I promise you will not be disappointed,  I can’t wait to see Chef Gary again to chat about the meal, I know he would appreciate it too, I often speak to Gary about our meals out:-)

So how did my lucky penny come into it ?  Queuing today I looked down and saw a shiny penny so I bent down picked it up and gave it to Sue,  you know the “find a penny, pick it up and all day long you have good luck”   well we were planning to eat at Franke and benny’s tonight so our very good luck and good fortune was to find David’s Brasserie and to meet the very friendly and attentive waitress, I have often walked away from new places because of rude staff but this was a 100% positive experience.

If only all days ended this well,    This is not meant to turn into a food review but Sue had 2 glasses of Pinot and I had 2 bottles of Magners and the total bill was a tad under £68.00  I would have spent twice that for lesser food and I kid you not.

David’s Brasserie, you should be very proud, it takes a lot for me to post here about personal stuff but you deserve all the praise,  although we live 189 miles away, WE WILL be back;-)

Mark and Cinders, you would LOVE LOVE LOVE this place:-)

Jules
