Darren’s road to recovery

A few weeks ago we were contacted by Darren’s wife about booking a one-2-one workshop for him. Darren has unfortunately been signed off work with a stress related illness and loves photography so after chatting with Amanda we arranged a day in the New Forest. Sue and I met with Darren here in the studio for a couple of hours tuition before heading off to the new forest. We started with the ponies then the Deer before heading off to a local farm to photograph the smaller critters. I am honestly overjoyed to see the changes in Darren from when we started through to chatting to him this morning prior to blogging.

We offer all sorts of workshops both One-2-One and groups from specialist subjects through to getting to know your camera and would happily chat about anything in-between. We have put on workshops for lots of great local photographers as well as a few local companies looking to improve their social media presence and also we have worked for the United Nations running a workshop for them.  Please get in touch if you need to chat about our workshops.

We also offer scouted days around the south coast for those looking to build a portfolio or just find the nicest places to shoot.

We hope that you enjoy these photographs from this workshop, we are very pleased with them and we feel they show off using your cameras AV and S mode very well and also the various focus and metering modes all of which are interesting to learn about and will take your photography to a new level.

One of my favourite days………

Yes I know we all moan about losing an hour last night and Sue and I were woken at 6 am, or was that 5 am, 7 am God knows, but we were up bright and early for this year’s first tt race for me and it marks an amazing and exciting time of year for me.

First and foremost from here on in, we get lighter evenings which means we can have so much more fun at our weddings and of course late afternoon and evening portraits. The Spring days are filled with so much promise and anticipation.

We have an amazing diary of weddings again this year and we are both really excited, a few really special ones too, for instance, Sarah and Steve, good friends of ours, Andy and Sophie, great friends, Chris is marrying Noel, he is a very long term great friend of ours and so much more. Lots of our couples celebrating 10 years WOW including Nick and Morwenna and we will surely see them for a shoot and so much more.

Our workshops also take on a new step into spring, our Durdle Door workshop is always popular at this time.

On the personal note, this week see’s us launch our Cycling club which has been a personal ambition of mine and I will run it with a few options like cycle maintenance and fitness classes which will run alongside Julian porter photography just perfectly and it’s all very exciting. Cycling and Fitness, in general, are booming and, personally, I absolutely love it and its done so much for me bot physically and mentally.

I hope you are all looking forward to being a part of our 2017 🙂 it’s going to be one of our best years yet.

Marwell workshop with Richard

A few weeks ago we took Richard to Marwell for one of our very popular “getting to know your camera” workshops and we had a lovely day.

We concentrate on the most part with shooting in the creative modes AV and TV and teaching people to shoot faster-moving objects as well as still objects through thick cages and dirty glass all without detriment to the finished photograph. This is possible with reasonable equipment and skill that we can teach you.

The main aim of this day-long workshop is to teach you how to control your camera and not let your camera control you. The difference is amazing as this fist photo will prove.  Controlling your camera is paramount to taking great photos.

Please let in touch if you would like to chat about a workshop and improve your photography.

We hope that you enjoy these photographs from this workshop, we are very pleased with them and we feel they show off using your cameras AV and S mode very well and also the various focus and metering modes all of which are interesting to learn about and will take your photography to a new level.

Training day with Sharon

Last week we took Sharon to Marwell for a follow-up workshop and had a great afternoon helping her to get to grips with her new Canon Camera. We did our usual walk around and photographed a great selection of animals including the Tigers and cubs.

The main focus of this was to teach Sharon how to use her apertures correctly, in this case, to enable her to photograph through very thick dirty glass and through cages using just her camera settings.  Check out the last photo to see this.

Sharon has lots of plans with her photography and if you want to follow suit then get in touch with us, we offer courses and workshops covering most styles and types of photography.

We are currently running a very special offer with our Marwell workshops.

We hope that you enjoy these photographs from this workshop, we are very pleased with them and we feel they show off using your cameras AV and S mode very well and also the various focus and metering modes all of which are interesting to learn about and will take your photography to a new level.

The next image shows the difference between controlling your camera, and the camera having control. Which would you rather see and shoot?

Marwell workshop with Becks and Jacqui

On Wednesday we held one of our “getting to know your camera” workshops for Becks and Jacqui. As always we started our day here at the studio going through camera settings and the basics of photography as well as planning our day which changes depending on what our clients are after.

After our studio couple of hours and a few coffee’s 🙂 we headed off up to Marwell and spent a few hours with Becks and Jacqui helping them with there cameras and mastering the art of photographing through thick glass and wire cages and I am pleased to say they both did fantastic and had a lot of fun.

We were lucky with most of the animals and especially the bigs cats but the avery was closed as a bird flu precaution so we sadly missed them.

Here are a few photos from the day, we are still running our half price marwell offer so send me a message if you you have a new Christmas camera and fancy this.

We hope that you enjoy these photographs from this workshop, we are very pleased with them and we feel they show off using your cameras AV and S mode very well and also the various focus and metering modes all of which are interesting to learn about and will take your photography to a new level.
