Beautiful wedding with Alex and Becky

On Saturday we joined Alex and Becky for their wedding in the beautiful New Forest at the Bartley Lodge Hotel. It has been a favourite venue of ours for a long time so we were both excited about this day.  We met Alex and Becky when we photographed her sister’s wedding back in 2015, “Ian and Laura’s big day” This was also an amazing day so we had plenty to be excited about. Alex is also now one of my cycling buddies and will be joining my cycling club very soon which is also pretty exciting stuff.

We started our day with Becky and the girls at Dad’s house in Wellow, Once again a lovely peaceful vibe and whilst the girls got ready the bubbles flowed and Sue and I got to work. Lots of beautiful details and preparation shots and with almost every shutter click the weather got brighter and better until all we could see were blue skies.

Sue and I then headed off to Bartley Lodge to meet with Alex and the boys, a few fun shots and a few more details and we were happy and waiting for our beautiful bride. Becky arrived a few minutes later in a truly stunning VW camper “sleepy Jean” supplied by our friends at “Vinnies Vintage Vehicles”  I love when our clients get creative with their wedding transport. 😃 A few photos then into the ceremony for a lovely wedding with probably the most emotional reading from Alex’s Mum, Sue that I have ever hear, Beautiful and heartfelt.

Afterwards, we spilt out into the gardens and the sunshine for a lovely hour enjoying the day, Sue and I took some beautiful photos before heading off with Alex and Becky for a few photos in the New Forest with the Camper. Then back to the family groups and in for the wedding breakfast which started with the speeches. 3 really lovely speeches and then dinner.  Afterwards, we headed back outside for a couple more photos before being called in to cut the cake, just after we were dancing and shortly after that our day came to a close.

I was pretty excited to get home and upload the photos today, sure enough, there were some crackers so after a few facebook teasers Sue and I headed off to bed, tired and very happy.

Another absolutely wonderful wedding with amazing people. I hope you enjoy these taster photos that I hope will keep you going until Alex and Becky return from South Africa.

Thank you, everyone, for making this such an amazing day

Jules and Sue x

May the 4th be with you……….

Ok cheesy title 😂 but anything but a cheesy wedding day for Matt and Jean on May 4th this year, yes Star wars day!  We met Matt and Jean at a wedding a couple of years ago, you might remember I raved about that wedding back then, not just because it was a lovely day at Rownhams House but because of the people. They were all Foster parents and the children were mostly fostered. Not only a humbling experience but for me a life changing one too.  I met this little lad Lucien, He suffered from several nasty life changing things including cerebral palsy 🙁 but he was the most energetic happy and well behaved little boy I have seen in a long time. It’s true to say I am a people person but this little lad melted my heart, I would have taken him home with me and I feel the same way 2 years on.  🙂

Lucien is Matt and Jeans, little lad……. See my rambling story was going somewhere.

Matt and Jean chose our small day 4-hour package, they were tying the knot at Southampton Registry office and then heading off in a vintage VW camper “Nellie”  to the New Forest Pub which is where the party was going to happen. After a short but lovely ceremony we all headed off to the New Forest pub in convoy, Once there we headed into the gardens for some sunshine and enjoyed an absolutely wonderful afternoon watching the children laugh and enjoy. Once again my heartstrings were tugged. Amazing to see so many children that started life in such a shitty way (sorry, not sorry) having just the most amazing day and life. There are a couple that deserves a proper mention. My little man Lucien, OMG what a complete gorgeous dude, he has grown into a superb little man and walks and gets around just like everyone else now, That’s a Big deal if you saw him a couple years ago. And Jimma,  Again such a massive improvement and so blooming confident too, Matt and Jean, Tracey and Simon you should be so very proud.

After a couple hours on the lawns we came in for the speech, just one, heartfelt and proper just like speeches should be, The kids started dancing and singing haha and the adults took advantage of the setting sun and the New Forest Pub’s blankets too whilst they waited for the BBQ to be served.

Sue and I headed home. Although a short wedding for us, it was again a very special day filled with awe-inspiring people and I feel richer for having met them. I absolutely love what I do but as it goes it pales compared to what some people do in the “goodness stakes”

TOP wedding and TOP people, thank you, Matt and Jean, for letting us be part of your journey.  Much love to you and your wonderful children.

May the force be with you X

Mark and Lydia get married

Last year Lydia and Mark contacted us after a recommendation from one of our running pals Carolyn. We met up and spoke about their wedding and booked it in.  They were getting married in a beautiful church in Lower Woodford in Salisbury and best of all the ceremony was being led by a family friend.

Fast forward to last week, We have had several meetings and a million emails and the big day was approaching. I had a call from the vicar “Jo Naish” firstly I was a little worried if I am being honest, normally if vicars are wanting to chat with me it’s to read me the riot act haha, but this was a different phone call, It was all about Mark and Lydia and what we could do as a team to make their day even better, WOW, just WOW, Christianity as it should be, the big fella upstairs would be very happy, I am 100% sure of that.

Saturday arrived and Sue and I headed to the church, Mark and Lydia chose our “older short day” so we started at the church and finish after speeches, We met the lovely vicar Jo, and took a few shots of the beautiful church and guests as they arrived.

When Lydia arrived I was genuinely lost for words. She looked absolutely amazing and full of confidence. Funny but so not what I was expecting 😃 Into the church and a truly beautiful and enjoyable service.  Afterwards, we spilt out into the sunshine for a few photos at the church and then the confetti line.

Sue and I then took Mark and Lydia to a family friends gardens for some photos, this was an amazing space and we had a lot of fun. After some lovely photos, we headed back to Grassmere house for the reception.

Lots of drinks and canapes on the terrace and a few more photos on the lawns before we were eventually called into dinner. Sue and I chilled out whilst dinner was served, generally chatting about how great the day had gone and just how wonderful it was to be part of an amazing family wedding. We are so blessed with our job and I count my lucky stars every day.  After dinner came the speeches.  4 speeches and lots of fun and laughter from them all.  Sue and I said our goodbyes and left the wedding to enjoy the evening, although to be fair it was 10 pm so not much time for dancing, Who cares tho, it was a super chilled, proper family wedding filled with amazing people.

Special thank you to Jo Naish, if my faith needed any reinforcement then JOB DONE!  Mark and Lydia, WOW you guys are amazing and I loved sharing your most amazing wedding with you, Thank you. And everyone else for smiling in the right places 🙂 you make my life easy and enjoyable. X

Brompton Barracks with Polly and Jerry

On Saturday, Sue and I headed off from home at 8 am in what can only be described as shocking weather, sleet, snow, and rain all the way up the M3 and M25 but even that could not dampen our spirits or our plans for a great day with Polly and Jerry at the wonderful Brompton Barracks officers mess.  We arrived in Chatham in Kent just after 10 am and familiarised ourselves with Brompton and the local Garrison church before heading off to find breakfast. We found a local cafe less than a mile from the church and ordered a coffee and breakfast, The staff were amazing and invited us to hang around in the warm whilst we waited for our start time of 12:30 so we did just that.  Good job really because it was really cold and snowing on and off until about 11:45.

Just after 12, we headed off to the church to say our “hello’s” and wait for Jerry and the boys to arrive. Because of the bitter cold, Jerry stayed in the pub, who can blame him? 🙂 but once he arrived at about 1:30 there was a flurry of activity and Sue and I had a blast photographing people arrive, It only takes a hearty “good afternoon” to make people realise that we are fun and bring on the lovely smiles, these moments make for beautiful photographs. Polly wanted these arrival shots rather than preparations today and Sue and I pride ourselves in our flexibility so were happy to swap things around.

Shortly afterwards Polly arrived looking amazing, quickly into the warm church and the waiting guests and family. A beautiful ceremony with a few lovely tweaks, the Canon got everyone to look around for a photo half way through, which was a nice touch. Afterwards, we all spilt out into the church yard for warmed Pimms and hot chocolate, another nice touch.

After a few group photos, we headed off to the lovely Brompton Barracks for the reception and spent a couple of hours enjoying the Royal Engineers hospitality and capturing beautiful relaxed photos.  A little later in for dinner and speeches including a surprise one from Polly. Then the cake cutting which was a lot of fun and then dancing. 180 people on and around the dancefloor was an epic sight.

After the first dance, Sue and I headed home, arriving 16 hours after we left 🙂

Such an amazing and well organised day, beautiful church, venue and people and an absolute joy to photograph. Thank you guys it was amazing X

Donna and Martyn’s winter wedding

On Wednesday we joined Martyn and Donna for their lovely winter wedding at the lovely Bell Inn near Lyndhurst. It was a tiny wedding with only 14 guests and quite a few of those were children and the Bell Inn suited it just perfectly. We started our day with Donna for a few pre-wedding photos before heading into the ceremony room.

Donna arrived a few minutes later looking amazing and the ceremony was just lovely. Afterwards we all spilled out into the bar area for drinks and a few relaxed photos and a few family groups,  A couple more with Donna and Martyn and then that was it 🙂 Everybody was ushered into dinner so Sue and I said our goodbyes.

This was a beautiful bespoke little wedding for us with wonderful people and a perfect way to spend a Wednesday.

Thank you Donna and Martyn, it was fab x
