Because of the rain we headed straight off to Goodwood House where Sue and I almost kept up with the Roller !  Boy that thing can move,Whilst we waited for guests to arrive we took advantage of a little dry spell and took Japp and Camilla for a few portraits around the grounds where they were greeted by there lovely little doggie Tweed who was just a tad excited to see them. We then headed back to the guests who were now tucked up inside keeping warm and out of the rain, We spent the next hour or so taking some relaxed photos of the guests and wedding party enjoying themselves as well as a few family groups before being called in for a very scrumy dinner, We had some real fun speeches in-between each course and then afterwards cake cutting.

Then as promised the fun really started and the party kicked off, we had so much fun with all the dancing, drinking and singing, the guests not us

Sue and I brought our associate Joanne along because this was a large wedding so Thanks JoJo.  We had such a fun day and would like to thank both families for your patience whilst we tried to overcome the language barrier.

We started our day with Natalie at her parents bungalow in Rownhams for some lovely prep shots and of course to get to know the family a little better before we headed off to the church which was only a few moments away in Horns drove,  we spent a little while at the church chatting to the vicar (another Julian) and then met with John when he arrived along with the boys and a few family members.

It was not long before Natalie arrived looking amazing in her beautiful dress and walked into the church, a lovely service followed as it always does at Rownhams and Sue and I did our thing throughout  Sue from the back and me up in the balcony.

After the service and a few minutes outside we headed the 15 minutes to the Bartley Lodge for the reception drinks,  well we had a lovely time taking John and Natalie off for a few portraits in the Sunshine and then some very fun and lively family groups and then I spent a while shooting the reportage side whilst Sue grabbed a few details of the day.

We were soon shown into dinner and then speeches which were fab, lots of laughter and tears and once again this is where Sue and I left John and Natalie to enjoy their evening,  Our smaller package which finishes at the meal or speeches if before dinner is very popular this year and especially so at Bartley Lodge.

All in all it was a fab sunny wedding and we look forward to seeing John and Natalie again soon

We then headed off to the delightful and charming Michelmersh Church where we photographed a few guests and James and the lads as they arrived, it was an amazing day and everyone was just beaming because of the late summer sunshine, we met the Vicar who basically said do whatever you like music to my ears and then Annette arrived in a beautiful white Range Rover looking beautiful and still smiling, did I mention Annette had a beautiful smile and smiled constantly  we took a few outside the church of Annette and her brother Simeon who also gave her away and then we wandered into the church which was filled with anticipation and a very excited crowd,  as Annette walked down the isle there was silence broken only by the occasional gasp or shutter click (not mine the D4′s are silent)  and soon Annette and James were together, what followed was an hour of love, laughter and togetherness, it really was a great service talking about couples and love and not all about God.  After the ceremony we headed outside and spent 30 minutes photographing the hugs and kisses as well as a few family groups and some lovely portraits up the lanes before heading back to Bartley Lodge.

On arrival we were greeted as always by Chris Garrett who runs the weddings to chat through the next couple of hours and then it was out onto the lawns for drinkies and more photos,  this is a lovely time for us because we get to photograph the parents and bridesmaids with there partners and best men etc, we really do get to know everybody well and its so much fun, James and Annette were wandering around socialising with everyone and having a blast right up until they were called in for the wedding breakfast,  but before that we had the speeches,  5 in total and all fun but James gave what was my best groom’s speech in years, he had the whole room in fits of laughter and involved everyone  brilliant.

Well after the speeches Sue and I finished what had been a day filled with so much laughter love and smiles, this is what makes our job such a joy !

Thanks to everyone for a great wedding and James and Annette thanks for being so much fun from the day we met right up until we said our goodbye’s yesterday.  TOP wedding

One of the best parts of this It was meeting lots of old friends and making lots of new friends from Dickson’s family, sadly some members of Rachael’s family are no longer with us but Nan and Grandad were much missed by everyone including Sue and I but I am fairly sure looking down proudly on another amazing wedding day.

We started our day at home with Rachael and her family for an hour or so prep, photographing dresses and shoes, flowers and cards before we headed off to the local church to be greeted by a very excited Dickson  after a few shots with the boys and saying hello to a few people we heard the clatter of horses as Rachael arrived looking spectacular with her Dad Paul in a two horse drawn carriage, there is something pretty special about a horse and carriage carrying a bride and her father pulling up outside the family church, goosebumps …….. After a few photographs we walked into the beautiful church which was lit up with love which you could see, hear and feel as Rachael walked down the isle with dad,  I did have to chuckle at one point with the amount of cameras and iPads jumping out to snap photos, thankfully I did manage to get a few but it was touch and go for a minute  the service was amazing,  this wedding was all about God, love and 2 very special people and it shone thoughout the service, songs words love and laughter, what more could we ask for when 2 people become 1.

After the service we wandered outside for a few hugs and kisses before heading off  the 15 miles to Horsley Towers where a champagne reception awaited us,  we had an hour wandering the grounds taking photo’s of family and friends as well as some lovely portraits around the lake before they were whisked off into the wedding breakfast.

After the breakfast we moved into speeches which were the best sort os speeches, from the heart, we then cut the amazing cake and then headed off to the old Chapel and cloisters for a few photos which was nice and then a few on the stairs before it was time to dance, the first dance was a lot of fun which led everyone perfectly into the barn dance which was as always very popular and lots of shouting, laughing and I am sure crying as the evening went on, this was out time to say goodbye and head back to Southampton after a very long but very rewarding day filled with Love happiness and laughter.

Sue and I headed up to Croydon on Friday night which is something we often do with our location weddings,  its a great way to chill out pre-wedding rather than sitting in traffic on the M25  we stayed in a Premier Inn which always look after us and we always feel great the next morning.  So bright and early (after a fab breakfast) Sue and I headed off to Mums house in Purley to see Steph and to meet her lovely and very hospitable family, after a few minutes we felt like one of the crowd and just knew it was going to be a fab wedding.   The 4 big bridesmaids really looked after us as did Mum and Dad so thanks guys you were all fab,  we spent a couple hours with Steph ending with some family shots on the new decking before we headed off to Purley to the local church where we were greeted by Canon Frank and the amazing words of  ”do what you like Jules”  :-)  we then met Luke and the boys and his lovely parents and got on with some guest shots before the cars arrived filled with the amazing bridesmaids and our stunning bride.

We walked into the beautiful church filled with 140 or so eager people and after an amazing Catholic service and the most amazing choir 90 minutes later walked out into the beautiful sunshine for a few family shots at the church and relaxed guest shots before heading off in somewhat of a weird direction to Coltsford Mill  We eventually arrived after apparently the driver took a few wrong turns LOL  and took Luke and Steph into the gardens along with Fi Steph’s hairdresser to look after Steph’s hair during our shoot,  I think we all need a personal hairdresser like Fi  we took some amazing portraits in the grounds but sadly were tight for time so had to shoot back to the guests for some lovely family groups and details before being whisked into dinner.  After the most amazing food YUM YUM YUM YUM yeah you can see we enjoyed it we had 3, well 4 speeches the usual 3 very entertaining speeches and an extra “why did the chicken cross the road” speech by our very confident 5 year old pageboy Sam  Sam ROCKED this wedding !

after our speeches we were for one reason or another running over an hour late so it was dark so we missed our evening portraits  but we did thanks to, well I dont really know who to blame  get to do our group shot outside, yes 160 or so people outside in the dark hahaha but it turned out well and I know Steph and Luke will love it even more because of the fun involved,

All in all we had another amazing wedding and I would like to thanks Luke and Steph’s family and friends so much for the constant fun and compliments, we really appreciate it guys, Sophie  (Steph’s sister and chief bridesmaid) for recommending us to Steph and Luke as well as the rest of the bridal party for being so much fun and help, Sam well just for being Sam

Mostly to Steph and Luke,  you guys were amazing, you made great choices for your wedding day and you enjoyed every minute of it, I take my hat off to you, you know how to party !   well done guys you made a lot of people VERY HAPPY on Saturday 8th September,  much love XXX

We then headed off to St Marys church in Warsash for a lively service followed by champagne in the churchyard afterwards which was a nice touch whilst we took family photos over on the church green.

We then headed off towards the Bartley Lodge but stopped in Lyndhurst en-route for a few photos with the ponies which has become a bit of a habit for us   We then headed off to Bartley Lodge where we took a few more guest shots and room details before the guests went into dinner and we said our goodbye’s,  it was odd leaving so early but we had a lot of fun in the short time we were there.

Sue and I often get asked to do shorter or smaller weddings and we often do and they are a lot of fun, its non stop action but produces amazing photographs just the same as a full day  so if you have a shorter or smaller wedding then why not give Julian Porter Photography a call today to discuss your wedding plans over a coffee.

After shooting the preps and the marquee details we headed off to the Church, well actually the pub next to the church to meet Doug for a few shots with the boys and then before we knew it we could hear the clip clop of the horses and Claire and her Dad arrived in the Horse and Carriage, a few shots and then into St Matthews church in Netley Marsh.

Sadly the vicar would not allow any photos  shocking IMO but despite my argument I could not get him to listen.

After the service we came out into the sunshine where we took some relaxed guest shots as well as our family groups, we were blesses with amazing sunshine again so it was a pleasure.  We then headed off with Claire and Doug to a local spot for a few photos before heading back to the reception,  we had another hour on the lawn before everybody headed into dinner and Sue and I headed off for a sandwich which is where we met the amazing Gary Grace who was lead singer with the evenings swing band

When we returned we cracked on into speeches and then waited whilst the band set up,  The band sounded amazing and were every bit worth waiting for,  Sue and I held on for 3 or 4 songs after the first dance us to grab a few dancers and listen to Gary

We started our day with Jules at her Mums house for some lovely relaxed photos and getting to know everyone, the couple of hours there flew by and we were soon heading off to the bar to meet with Luke and the boys,  We met an excited Luke and had a few minutes grabbing some relaxed shots and some lovely details before everyone headed into church and the absolutely stunning Jules arrived,  I think the whole congregation were as stunned as I was .  The vicar Mary greeted me with ” hello Jules I am Mary, I am very laid back just dont shove me out of the way and we will get on fine” Guess what, we got on just fine  after a beautiful ceremony we headed outside into the unexpected sun and took a few family photos at the church before Jules and Luke headed off for a drive and we all walked the few steps to Highfield Park with the rest of the guests,  We then had an hour os so in the grounds for a few more family group shots and some portraits and of course details of the room as well as a few people with teh AFC Wimbledon scarf, Luke was involved with them until recently and is a true supporter.

We then all headed into a lovely chicken dinner and then some very emotional speeches, Yes Sue cried !!!  3 times in fact but there were 2 distinct  highlights during the speeches, 1 was Luke giving Jules “dont for wives published in 1919″  just brilliant mate   and the second was when somebody told 92 year old Grandad to SHHHH and he looked up and said “bugger off” hahahahaha

after the speeches we all headed back to the bar to chill out and a few more fun photos including a few on the stairs and with the girls outside al of which made for a fun and very memorable wedding day,  Whilst we were waiting for the first dance we set up our Funtime Foto booth ready for an evening of fun.

We then met Leroy the Dj who was not only a magnificent Dj but a true inspiration,  Those of you that know about my personal journey with my weight and fitness just have to read this   Needless to say the first dance was amazing and afterwards we mooved onto the Funtime Fotos which you can read about soon here !

Thanks to everyone for looking after us both from early on right through to the bacon rolls but mostly thank you to Jules and Luke for reminding me once again just why I love my job and why I am the luckiest man alive,  Bless you both X

We started our day with Hannah who I must say was our most smily bride ever  lots of smiles from start to finish, we had an hour or so for preps in a local house in Stockbridge where Hannah was getting ready, we already knew Hannah’s family from the earlier wedding so the whole thing was very friendly but soon it was time to head to the boot to meet with george and the boys,  again we knew most of George’s family so it was like being greeted by old pals which is just what we like,  We had a few photos at the boot inn before heading up the short hill to the beautifully secluded church to await our beautiful brides entrance,  Whilst waiting we got some lovely relaxed photos of everyone including a very happy George who was patiently waiting for his love of 9 years to arrive.

Hannah arrived with her dad and she looked amazing, the whole church fell silent as she walked in and the atmosphere was amazing,  then the ceremony, well the photos say it all and Hannah and George were married amidst a fanfare or smiles, laughter and rapturous applause from the 100 or so guests then led outside into the sunshine for hugs, kisses and confetti before heading back to the house and sensational gardens with a beautiful marquee for an afternoon of bubbles, nibbles and smiles along with a few photos, a magician, live music, a couple of dogs and 100 or so very happy and content wedding goers

We the went into dinner for speeches first which were fun, Dad chatting about Hannah’s apparently legendary Piano skills and George of how he met the love of his life 9 years ago then Best man Stuart finishing with a few laughs, then dinner, cake cutting and back out to enjoy the gardens.

Later as the evening went on we took a few fun shots and then moved back into the first dance which was great but sadly where Sue and I had to say our goodbye’s but we left with  happy heart’s knowing that we had been part of another amazing wedding day for a couple to outstanding families and we had taken some superb photos too

Once again during this dreadful June I am pleased to say they the weather gods were on our side, we had beautiful sunshine and blue skies all day long so no complaints here thank you.

It was lovely to see so many of you all again, thank you for the kind words and laughter and memories, Holly and karl and of course Harry it was lovely to see you again,  Tick Tock and Grumpy thank you for looking after us as if we were family  and Hannah and George we owe you the biggest thank you of all for being the most amazing couple and for making us smile all day long and thank you so much for the bubbles, we shall enjoy them on our day off this week and raise a glass to you both.

Soon after Emily arrived in style with her Dad and we had a few shots with the girlies before walking the path to the church, I loved the walk in, such beautiful moments between Emily and Dad captured forever.  After a beautiful church service we walked back outside into the sun again and lots and lots of hugs and kisses before the confetti and off to the reception,  We stopped off in Beaulieu for a few portraits which was always the plan with the DB6 but we did it with the Rolls Royce instead,  not a to shabby backup car !   we got some lovely portraits with and without the ponies and then headed off to Elmers Court where the guests were waiting to greet them.  We had a lovely hour in the grounds for a few relaxed family shots and a few more portraits and there was plenty happening including ice creams so everyone was happy,  to finish the hour we wandered over to the DB6 for a few shots and blow me if the bloody thing started so we took off for a few quick photos which I am sure will mean the world to Jez.

After the wedding breakfast and speeches we headed back outside for a few fun shots with the Uni guys and gals and the karate kids (jez’s other love) and then Sue and I set-up our FuntimFoto booth ready for the evening.  we headed back in to shoot the amazing first dance and music from the amazing Katy and Soulstar and then cracked on with our Funtime Fotos.
