Adam and Katrina get married

Last weekend’s wedding was with Adam and Katrin and the beautiful Tithe Barn near Petersfield. A popular venue for us for over 10 years so we know it very well and love it a lot too 😍  Beautiful barn and over the years the grounds are becoming beautiful to thanks to the caring and dedicated team their.

We started our day at a local hotel with Katrina and the girls, to be honest, it was all a bit crazy, haha but we managed to calm things a little and grab some beautiful details and preparation shots as well as a few of the bridesmaids and those 2 crazy little flower girls ❤️

After an hour or so we headed off to the Tithe Barn to meet with Adam and the boys, Just our usual photos which help keep the boys happy and a few more barn details before Katrina arrived being driven by her dad in his swanky BMW.  Into see the 2 registrars then a couple of photos before the beautiful walk to get married.  This driveway is one of my favourite features of the barn and always makes for lovely photos. We often use this for portraits too because it looks so different during the year. Katrina, Dad and the bridesmaids made their way up to the barn and into a crowded ceremony room. The 2 flower girls who previously were running around singing were just perfect 😇😇 and it made for the most amazing bridal entrance.  A pretty perfect ceremony and then we were all ushered out into the sunshine.  I’ve not mentioned the weather yet! well after a pretty perfect but very hot Friday, this morning’s weather was sunny but much cooler thanks to a pretty strong wind, This, of course, brings its own problems but it was dry and sunny and pretty glorious.

Our into the gardens and lots and lots of hugs and kisses and photos. It really was perfect timing too, Sunshine, drinks and very happy people in a beautiful location.  It soon became clear that Sue and I knew lots of people here too, how funny, some from Newborn shoots, some from weddings and some from family connections, small world.

We found a nice sheltered spot for the family groups and then took Adam and Katrina off for some beautiful portraits and of course confetti before being called into dinner, This started with a single speech from the Best man, well more of an intro really, no speeches today so very relaxed.  After dinner, the guests were invited back outside for Desert 🍦 A beautiful vintage caravan which was converted into an ice cream van, brilliant idea, super scrummy ice cream and a brilliant way to finish the meal.

A few lawn games and for us a few portraits with the bridesmaids made the time fly by Before we knew it we were asked back inside to cut the cake and first dance. Both were perfect and brought our day to a finish. A long but very enjoyable day with amazing people.

Thanks guys for a superb wedding X

Holly and Matt’s wonderful wedding day

Last week we joined Holly and Matt for their beautiful wedding day at New Place in Shirrel Heath which is a very popular wedding venue for us.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING DAY WITH AWESOME PEOPLE ❤️

Holly and Matt were recommended to us by Kimberley and Andrew who’s wedding we shot as well as their growing family too 🙂 We were actually already booked for Holly and Matt’s chosen date but on finding this out they changed their date so that we could join them, No pressure there then 😄

We started our day with Holly and the girls at home for some lovely relaxed prep shots and lots of beautiful details and of course getting to know everyone properly, before heading off to St Johns Church in Warsash to meet the boys for a few shots before the ceremony, Once there we were greeted by the vicar, again a fantastic vicar which set the pace for a superb ceremony and we were not disappointed. It was a beautiful service and a perfect start for Matt and Holly.

Outside we spilled into the sunshine for some hugs and kisses photos and then confetti before leaving for New Place, I did remember to thank the vicar for a “proper good service” he replied, “Thanks, Jules, I proper enjoyed it too” 😍 made me happy.

Once at New place, we headed almost straight into the family groups because it was windy and the weather could have been changeable, to be fair it stayed nice and I found a beautiful sheltered spot for the formals.  Afterwards, we took Matt and Holly for a walk for some portraits which just about worked out perfect for the guests being called into dinner.

After dinner and a few more portraits, we had the speeches, short and sharp and very much to the point, perfect in fact, a few tears and a few giggles.  Out into the bar whilst the band setup ready for a fun evening.

Sue and I photographed the cake cutting then into the dancing and a few dances before saying our goodbyes. A top day with amazing people again and in a beautiful venue.

Thanks everyone for such a wonderful day with you all ❤️

Beautiful wedding with Alex and Becky

On Saturday we joined Alex and Becky for their wedding in the beautiful New Forest at the Bartley Lodge Hotel. It has been a favourite venue of ours for a long time so we were both excited about this day.  We met Alex and Becky when we photographed her sister’s wedding back in 2015, “Ian and Laura’s big day” This was also an amazing day so we had plenty to be excited about. Alex is also now one of my cycling buddies and will be joining my cycling club very soon which is also pretty exciting stuff.

We started our day with Becky and the girls at Dad’s house in Wellow, Once again a lovely peaceful vibe and whilst the girls got ready the bubbles flowed and Sue and I got to work. Lots of beautiful details and preparation shots and with almost every shutter click the weather got brighter and better until all we could see were blue skies.

Sue and I then headed off to Bartley Lodge to meet with Alex and the boys, a few fun shots and a few more details and we were happy and waiting for our beautiful bride. Becky arrived a few minutes later in a truly stunning VW camper “sleepy Jean” supplied by our friends at “Vinnies Vintage Vehicles”  I love when our clients get creative with their wedding transport. 😃 A few photos then into the ceremony for a lovely wedding with probably the most emotional reading from Alex’s Mum, Sue that I have ever hear, Beautiful and heartfelt.

Afterwards, we spilt out into the gardens and the sunshine for a lovely hour enjoying the day, Sue and I took some beautiful photos before heading off with Alex and Becky for a few photos in the New Forest with the Camper. Then back to the family groups and in for the wedding breakfast which started with the speeches. 3 really lovely speeches and then dinner.  Afterwards, we headed back outside for a couple more photos before being called in to cut the cake, just after we were dancing and shortly after that our day came to a close.

I was pretty excited to get home and upload the photos today, sure enough, there were some crackers so after a few facebook teasers Sue and I headed off to bed, tired and very happy.

Another absolutely wonderful wedding with amazing people. I hope you enjoy these taster photos that I hope will keep you going until Alex and Becky return from South Africa.

Thank you, everyone, for making this such an amazing day

May the 4th be with you……….

Ok cheesy title 😂 but anything but a cheesy wedding day for Matt and Jean on May 4th this year, yes Star wars day!  We met Matt and Jean at a wedding a couple of years ago, you might remember I raved about that wedding back then, not just because it was a lovely day at Rownhams House but because of the people. They were all Foster parents and the children were mostly fostered. Not only a humbling experience but for me a life changing one too.  I met this little lad Lucien, He suffered from several nasty life changing things including cerebral palsy 🙁 but he was the most energetic happy and well behaved little boy I have seen in a long time. It’s true to say I am a people person but this little lad melted my heart, I would have taken him home with me and I feel the same way 2 years on.  🙂

Lucien is Matt and Jeans, little lad……. See my rambling story was going somewhere.

Matt and Jean chose our small day 4-hour package, they were tying the knot at Southampton Registry office and then heading off in a vintage VW camper “Nellie”  to the New Forest Pub which is where the party was going to happen. After a short but lovely ceremony we all headed off to the New Forest pub in convoy, Once there we headed into the gardens for some sunshine and enjoyed an absolutely wonderful afternoon watching the children laugh and enjoy. Once again my heartstrings were tugged. Amazing to see so many children that started life in such a shitty way (sorry, not sorry) having just the most amazing day and life. There are a couple that deserves a proper mention. My little man Lucien, OMG what a complete gorgeous dude, he has grown into a superb little man and walks and gets around just like everyone else now, That’s a Big deal if you saw him a couple years ago. And Jimma,  Again such a massive improvement and so blooming confident too, Matt and Jean, Tracey and Simon you should be so very proud.

After a couple hours on the lawns we came in for the speech, just one, heartfelt and proper just like speeches should be, The kids started dancing and singing haha and the adults took advantage of the setting sun and the New Forest Pub’s blankets too whilst they waited for the BBQ to be served.

Sue and I headed home. Although a short wedding for us, it was again a very special day filled with awe-inspiring people and I feel richer for having met them. I absolutely love what I do but as it goes it pales compared to what some people do in the “goodness stakes”

TOP wedding and TOP people, thank you, Matt and Jean, for letting us be part of your journey.  Much love to you and your wonderful children.

May the force be with you X

Mark and Lydia get married

Last year Lydia and Mark contacted us after a recommendation from one of our running pals Carolyn. We met up and spoke about their wedding and booked it in.  They were getting married in a beautiful church in Lower Woodford in Salisbury and best of all the ceremony was being led by a family friend.

Fast forward to last week, We have had several meetings and a million emails and the big day was approaching. I had a call from the vicar “Jo Naish” firstly I was a little worried if I am being honest, normally if vicars are wanting to chat with me it’s to read me the riot act haha, but this was a different phone call, It was all about Mark and Lydia and what we could do as a team to make their day even better, WOW, just WOW, Christianity as it should be, the big fella upstairs would be very happy, I am 100% sure of that.

Saturday arrived and Sue and I headed to the church, Mark and Lydia chose our “older short day” so we started at the church and finish after speeches, We met the lovely vicar Jo, and took a few shots of the beautiful church and guests as they arrived.

When Lydia arrived I was genuinely lost for words. She looked absolutely amazing and full of confidence. Funny but so not what I was expecting 😃 Into the church and a truly beautiful and enjoyable service.  Afterwards, we spilt out into the sunshine for a few photos at the church and then the confetti line.

Sue and I then took Mark and Lydia to a family friends gardens for some photos, this was an amazing space and we had a lot of fun. After some lovely photos, we headed back to Grassmere house for the reception.

Lots of drinks and canapes on the terrace and a few more photos on the lawns before we were eventually called into dinner. Sue and I chilled out whilst dinner was served, generally chatting about how great the day had gone and just how wonderful it was to be part of an amazing family wedding. We are so blessed with our job and I count my lucky stars every day.  After dinner came the speeches.  4 speeches and lots of fun and laughter from them all.  Sue and I said our goodbyes and left the wedding to enjoy the evening, although to be fair it was 10 pm so not much time for dancing, Who cares tho, it was a super chilled, proper family wedding filled with amazing people.

Special thank you to Jo Naish, if my faith needed any reinforcement then JOB DONE!  Mark and Lydia, WOW you guys are amazing and I loved sharing your most amazing wedding with you, Thank you. And everyone else for smiling in the right places 🙂 you make my life easy and enjoyable. X
