Rob and Lorraine get married at Cain Manor

Last Thursday we joined Rob and Lorraine for their beautiful wedding at Cain manor on the Hampshire Surrey borders on what turned out to be a beautiful late summers day.  We met Rob and Lorraine when Rob was Best Man at Terry and Sarah’s wedding at the Elvetham a couple of years ago so it was lovely when we were asked to join them for their day too. We started our day with Lorraine in the bridal suite for some lovely relaxed preparation shots of all the lovely details like shoes and dresses, flowers and rings as well as all the usual hub hub which goes on pre wedding 🙂

After an hour or so we went to meet Rob and the boys, this time Terry was Rob’s best man but we knew most of them anyway so again it was a lovely relaxed time with the guys too. Rob had arranged to hire a brand new Austin Martin for Lorraine to drive so we also had a few preparations for that too.

We then went back to Lorraine and got ready for the final walk down the oak stairs to get married. The ceremony was beautiful and lots of happy smiling faces as well as a few tears too, after the ceremony we all wandered outside onto the patio into the beautiful sunshine which stayed with us right through to the nightime.  After the hugs and kisses Sue and I headed out the front with Rob and Lorraine pretending to do portraits but really to surprise Lorraine with the Austin Martin which went down very well, she was super excited as I am sure I would be 🙂  we then did our family groups as well as portraits and lots of relaxed photos before being called into dinner but before that was served we had the speeches which were fun and then a surprise speech from the page boy Harry 🙂

After dinner we were again outside enjoying the sun so we grabbed a few evening portraits of Rob and Lorraine which were lovely and then before we knew it the music had started and it was time to cut the cake and dance.

It was an amazing day just as we had expected when we met with Rob and Lorraine and everyone there enjoyed this superb summer wedding.  Thanks to the guys for helping us organise everything 🙂

Simon, Jada and a very cool Ferrari

On Thursday we did the first of our May weddings and what a perfect one to start on, We joined Simon and Jada for their wedding day at Northbrook Park which is nestled on the Hampshire and Surrey borders up near Farnham.  Simon and Jada chose an amazing day to get married we had sunshine pretty much all day and it was a joy to be outside and warm.  We started our day with Jada and the girls in one of the mews and as soon as we arrived we knew we were in for a fun day, the champagne was already flowing and the girls were loving the buzz,  We took lots of details and then walked over to meet the boys who had arrived in a very swanky Ferrari and looked very sharp,  amongst them was our good friend Dave Gaunt who’s wedding we shot many years ago and thanks Dave for recommending us to Simon and Jada.

After a few shots of the boys and the rooms we headed back to Jada for the final few bits before we headed into the filled ceremony room ad after a tense 5 minute wait Jada walked in looking a million dollars and Simon was simply stunned at the bride before him,  we then had a beautiful ceremony and was then led out into the courtyard and through into the spectacular gardens at Northbrook Park for a couple of hours sipping champagne and enjoying canapés in the sunshine whilst Sue and I captured some beautiful relaxed photos of everyone, we also took some fun family photos in the walled gardens and took Simon and Jada off for some creative fun portraits before being whisked back into dinner which was scrummy thanks guys.

As we sat down for the wedding breakfast the bridesmaid stood up and played a fun Mr & Mrs Game which got the whole room laughing and then mum gave an emotional speech before the breakfast was served, afterwards we had the 3 main speeches which if you knew Simon and Jada were just as you would expect Fun Fun Fun.

After Dinner we took Simon and Jada outside again because the light was amazing and we took some beautiful twilight portraits and I am so pleased that we did they turned out amazing, then back to the room for dancing and that saw the end for Sue and I.

What a fantastic way to start our May weddings 🙂  Sue and I do a lot of weddings at Northbrook Park so if you are getting married there please give us a call and we can chat.

Thanks guys for looking after us and Dave for making me smile the whole day.

London wedding photographer Julian Porter joins Rachael and Dickson for their big day

On Saturday Sue and I joined Rachael and Dickson for their amazing wedding at Horsley Towers in Surrey just off the M25 on what was a fantastic late summer day filled with song, love and laughter,  This is the 4th wedding we have shot for Rachael’s family so we knew it would be a fab fun day,  It all started back in 2005 when Damian and Laura came to see us and book us for their 2007 wedding which was a fab day, then shortly afterwards we photographed Damian’s colleague  Ben and Emily’s wedding also in 2007,  then Ben’s brother Dan married Nicola in 2008 and in 2010 we photographed their aunt Carol when she married Pete which was another amazing wedding for us.

One of the best parts of this It was meeting lots of old friends and making lots of new friends from Dickson’s family, sadly some members of Rachael’s family are no longer with us but Nan and Grandad were much missed by everyone including Sue and I but I am fairly sure looking down proudly on another amazing wedding day.

We started our day at home with Rachael and her family for an hour or so prep, photographing dresses and shoes, flowers and cards before we headed off to the local church to be greeted by a very excited Dickson 🙂  after a few shots with the boys and saying hello to a few people we heard the clatter of horses as Rachael arrived looking spectacular with her Dad Paul in a two horse drawn carriage, there is something pretty special about a horse and carriage carrying a bride and her father pulling up outside the family church, goosebumps :-)…….. After a few photographs we walked into the beautiful church which was lit up with love which you could see, hear and feel as Rachael walked down the isle with dad,  I did have to chuckle at one point with the amount of cameras and iPads jumping out to snap photos, thankfully I did manage to get a few but it was touch and go for a minute 🙂  the service was amazing,  this wedding was all about God, love and 2 very special people and it shone thoughout the service, songs words love and laughter, what more could we ask for when 2 people become 1.

After the service we wandered outside for a few hugs and kisses before heading off  the 15 miles to Horsley Towers where a champagne reception awaited us,  we had an hour wandering the grounds taking photo’s of family and friends as well as some lovely portraits around the lake before they were whisked off into the wedding breakfast.

After the breakfast we moved into speeches which were the best sort os speeches, from the heart, we then cut the amazing cake and then headed off to the old Chapel and cloisters for a few photos which was nice and then a few on the stairs before it was time to dance, the first dance was a lot of fun which led everyone perfectly into the barn dance which was as always very popular and lots of shouting, laughing and I am sure crying as the evening went on, this was out time to say goodbye and head back to Southampton after a very long but very rewarding day filled with Love happiness and laughter.

Thanks guys it was an awesome day, and one last word,  Jake,  YOUR next dude !  🙂

A few of my favourites and then our taster slideshow.

London wedding photographer – Steph and Luke get married at Coltsford mill

On Saturday Sue and I joined Luke and Step for their lovely wedding at Coltsford Mill in Croydon on what turned out to be out hottest day yet so as you would expect there were lots of happy and smiley people there !

Sue and I headed up to Croydon on Friday night which is something we often do with our location weddings,  its a great way to chill out pre-wedding rather than sitting in traffic on the M25 🙂  we stayed in a Premier Inn which always look after us and we always feel great the next morning.  So bright and early (after a fab breakfast) Sue and I headed off to Mums house in Purley to see Steph and to meet her lovely and very hospitable family, after a few minutes we felt like one of the crowd and just knew it was going to be a fab wedding.   The 4 big bridesmaids really looked after us as did Mum and Dad so thanks guys you were all fab,  we spent a couple hours with Steph ending with some family shots on the new decking before we headed off to Purley to the local church where we were greeted by Canon Frank and the amazing words of  “do what you like Jules”  🙂  we then met Luke and the boys and his lovely parents and got on with some guest shots before the cars arrived filled with the amazing bridesmaids and our stunning bride.

We walked into the beautiful church filled with 140 or so eager people and after an amazing Catholic service and the most amazing choir 90 minutes later walked out into the beautiful sunshine for a few family shots at the church and relaxed guest shots before heading off in somewhat of a weird direction to Coltsford Mill 🙂  We eventually arrived after apparently the driver took a few wrong turns LOL  and took Luke and Steph into the gardens along with Fi Steph’s hairdresser to look after Steph’s hair during our shoot,  I think we all need a personal hairdresser like Fi 🙂  we took some amazing portraits in the grounds but sadly were tight for time so had to shoot back to the guests for some lovely family groups and details before being whisked into dinner.  After the most amazing food YUM YUM YUM YUM yeah you can see we enjoyed it 🙂 we had 3, well 4 speeches the usual 3 very entertaining speeches and an extra “why did the chicken cross the road” speech by our very confident 5 year old pageboy Sam 🙂  Sam ROCKED this wedding !

after our speeches we were for one reason or another running over an hour late so it was dark so we missed our evening portraits 🙁  but we did thanks to, well I dont really know who to blame 🙂  get to do our group shot outside, yes 160 or so people outside in the dark hahaha but it turned out well and I know Steph and Luke will love it even more because of the fun involved,

All in all we had another amazing wedding and I would like to thanks Luke and Steph’s family and friends so much for the constant fun and compliments, we really appreciate it guys, Sophie  (Steph’s sister and chief bridesmaid) for recommending us to Steph and Luke as well as the rest of the bridal party for being so much fun and help, Sam well just for being Sam 🙂

Mostly to Steph and Luke,  you guys were amazing, you made great choices for your wedding day and you enjoyed every minute of it, I take my hat off to you, you know how to party !   well done guys you made a lot of people VERY HAPPY on Saturday 8th September,  much love XXX

Northbrook Park wedding photographer – Ben and Danielle get married

We woke up early on Saturday morning to the sound of the birds singing and when I looked out of the window I could see what a beautiful day it was, amazing after such a dreadful week! Well Sue ad I have been waiting for this wedding for many years and I am very pleased to say that it did not disappoint!  Sue and I have known Danielle for about 8 years and photographed her many times, We have known Ben even longer since he was at primary school so as you can imagine we were delighted when they announced their engagement a couple of years ago and of course asked us to join them at their wedding,  I must confess I would have been more than a little upset if they hadn’t :-).  We were also delighted to advise on a wedding venue and very pleased when they chose our favorite Hampshire wedding venue Northbrook Park which in fact is on the Hampshire surrey border so could be a Surrey wedding venue too.  Sue and I have photographed lots of lovely Northbrook park weddings and here are a few on our wedding venue website. Ben and Danielle also took our advice on Caterers and chose the amazing  RedHerring for there wedding day, needless to say the food was absolutely top drawer.

We started our day with Danielle at Northbrook park in one of the cottages for some lovely relaxed preparation shots starting with makeup by one of our regular and amazing make up artists Kirsty McCall, you can check out her work here! its amazing, we then met with Ben in another cottage, we flitted between the 2 for a couple of hours grabbing some fun photos along the way as well as a few guests arriving and milling around, it was great to catch up with so many friends as they arrived. Soon the time had come to move across to the beautiful ceremony room for the amazing wedding ceremony and as Danielle walked in looking sensational there was a gasp of excitement in the crowded room, after a beautiful, tearful and very memorable ceremony we moved into the gardens for drinkies and canapés and lots of relaxed photos,

We also had amongst other things a lovely vintage Ice-cream van called Bluebelle supplied by our good friends at Kiss My Cake and it was amazing, fun and very very tasty, the ice-cream not the van!  We then took Ben and Danielle off for a walk and some portraits, mostly very relaxed like these here because Ben in not a big fan of posed photos and Northbrook works so well with the reportage style weddings, After a couple of hours we headed into the Orangery for speeches and we had 5 very different speeches, first the chief Bridesmaid (the lovely Ellie)  did her speech and a fun Mr & Mrs game which I guess was the warm up J then Danielle’s dad gave a heartwarming speech followed by Bens lovely words and then the 2 best men, the first fun and uplifting and the second very emotive, both just perfectly complimented the day and each other, lastly Danielle got up to talk, no surprise there then J.

We then sat down to an amazing dinner from RedHerring and I must say they excelled themselves again, top nosh! after dinner we all wandered into the marquee for a cocktail hour so Sue and I setup our amazing Funtime Foto’s which is our wedding photo booth and it was so much fun, we normally do this after the first dance but the natural gap worked so well,  we were soon joined by the Chocolate Troll (in-joke) which was a lovely chocolate fountain, with that, the cocktail bar and a sweet trolley and Funtime Foto’s the marquee was a great place to hang out J

We then photographed the first dance  and then back to our photo booth for a couple of hours of Funtime fotos which was amazing and we have some cracking photos too, we have been offering Funtime photos for the past year and its proved to be very popular with all sorts of weddings, Its a lot more fun than a traditional booth because we actually entertain whilst we are taking the photos and we have a proper fun time doing so 🙂

After the funtime fotos and a couple of dances, bouquet and garter tossing and lots of chocolate and sweets  Sue and I headed home, exhausted but very happy, It was as expected an amazing day and an awful lot of fun, I can’t thank you all enough for making me laugh and smile, and yes the odd tear too,  Danielle I knew you would look amazing but even I was blown away, Sue and I cannot thank you and Ben enough for looking after us during your amazing wedding.

Wow what a day, we will be talking about this for years!!!

As a side note I would like to pay a special thank you to the 4 bridesmaids Vikki, Vikki, and “cheify” Ellie and Sara you were all amazing just like bridesmaids should be but rarely are 😉  pats on the back all round xxxx

Although we finished on our funtime photos I will post them as a separate blog tomorrow at the launch of the new funtime website !
