Tim and Nicky get married

Last weekend we join Tim and Nicky for their wedding at the beautiful Southend barns near Chichester.  We met Tim and Nicky when we photographed Andy and Kimberley’s wedding back in 2013 at Rivervale Barn so we knew this was going to be a fab wedding and we were honestly not disappointed.

Having met Tim and Nicky a week or so before for an engagement shoot and to chat over photos we also knew they would be great on the day too.

We started our day with Nicky and the girls at Southend Barns for a couple of hours preparations which was just perfect, everyone was buzzing and the Barn was filling up with guests, the weather was overcast, no surprise because it was forecast and as the house went by the sunshine started to appear and the day started to look better.  The prep shots were amazing, lovely details and getting ready shots a pretty perfect start to any wedding day.

We then went to see Tim who had arrived in a snazzy TVR sports car and took some photos of the boys and of course the rings before heading back to Nicky just in time to see her dad arrive to Nicky’s room.

We then headed into the ceremony, the arrival shots were brilliant, Nicky just smiled and giggled all the way whilst poor Tim looked so nervous. That all changed as soon as Nicky arrived by his side and you could feel calmness in the room. The ceremony was really nice and enjoyable to be a part of and straight out into the line up for Confetti, I don’t personally like this part of southend barns “schedule” and think I would advice against it next time because doing the confetti first means we missed all the initial hugs and kisses shots 🙁  by the time people have been led out and thrown confetti they just want a drink which is a shame plus the bride and groom were covered in confetti for the family photos.

That aside the sun was shinning and everyone happy, champagne, canapés and a beautiful couple what more could we ask for. We  spent a couple hours on the lawns shooting a few group photos as well as our reportage and of course taking Tim and Nicky for a walk in the courtyard gardens.

Just before the wedding breakfast I organised the everybody shot (which is when I would choose to do confetti) and afterwards we all headed into dinner.  Sue and I then took our table photos and headed out to grab our dinner.  I had raced the day before and had a half marathon the next day so I tucked into bbq’d chicken and caus caus whilst they all tucked into their lovely dinner. Afterwards the speeches were entertaining and then coffee whilst Sue and I setup our Funtime Foto booth ready for an hour or so of fun.  Just as we hsetup the heavens opened and the rain started…phew that was a lucky escape.

After the funtime and a few pictures around the fire pit we headed into the barn for cake cutting and dance photos before Sue and I said our goodbyes and headed home.

All in all this was a perfect wedding. Sunshine when we needed it and the rain held of until dinner time. Great couple (as always) and wonderful family and guests.

Thanks guys we had the most awesome time 🙂

Jules

Engagement shoot with Catherine and Tom

Last we saw a big flurry of wedding activity here at Julian Porter Photography and bookings for 2015 are excellent and 2016 is looking fab too and what better way to start the spring than a few Engagement shoots. We offer engagement shoots free with all of our weddings ether in the studio at the weekends or on location locally during the working week. This as a studio Engagement shoot with Catherine and Tom because they are getting married in the summer and just wanted a studio shoot rather than a location shoot at their beautiful venue the Clock Barn near Andover which has been a favourite since we met Morwenna and Nick their many years ago 🙂

We started again with a chat through the day although its not until the summer so things can and do change 🙂 but its nice to get an idea of what the day will look like.  Catherine and Tom are both very shy so an engagement shoot was an excellent idea and will certainly pay dividends on the day.

We offer a completely free Engagement shoot to anyone booking a wedding with us because we feel its a wonderful way to get to know our clients before the big day. Here are a few photos from this Brilliant Engagement shoot I hope you enjoy and love them as much as we do and look forward to your comments and seeing you again soon,

Beautiful Rhinefield house wedding with Gareth and Pam

On Friday we joined Gareth and Pamela for their wedding at Rhinefield House in Brockenhurst in the New Forest and they could not have chosen a more perfect day to get married.  Sue and I are friends with Gareth and Pam because they both share our love of running so we knew it was going to be a fab day.

We started our day with Pam at Rhinefield House for some fun preps and lots of beautiful details before we headed off to the Catholic church down the road in Lyndhurst. Because of Thursdays wonderful sunshine the New Forest was buzzing so traffic was heavy but knowing a few shortcuts always helps and we arrived in good time to meet with Gareth and the lads for some portraits and more lovely details and of course to meet the Priest who was just awesome. If I was ever going to be religious I think I would become a catholic because they seem to embrace what I call real christianity 🙂 The priest made everyone feel so welcome and actually stood at his church doors and welcomed everyone in one by one.  Some of the vicars we work with could learn a thing or 2 about christianity from him.

After a few minuted Pam arrived in a beautiful Rolls Royce looking splendid and soon was walking down the isle of the beautiful church to get married. The service was just beautiful, full of special moments and really enjoyable to be a part of, its especially nice watching friends get married and even nicer being a huge part of their day.  After the ceremony we headed outside into the sunshine and had a while photographing hugs and kisses and the most beautiful confetti line before heading off back to Rhinefield.

Once back at Rhinefield we photographed the cars out front and headed out onto the sunny lawns for a couple hours of relaxed fun including some beautiful family groups on the eastern steps.  The time flew by and we finished as always with an “everybody” photograph from the bridal suite balcony before heading into dinner.

After the starters we had 3 fun speeches and then the remainder of the wedding breakfast so after a bite Sue and I setup our funtime foto wedding booth ready to kick off after dinner. The foto booth was a huge success and after an hour or so we moved into the first dance and then after a little while Sue and I said our goodbye’s and headed off home.  It was a long but fantastic day that we both loved.

We had the most amazing day with pam and Gareth and their lovely families and cant wait to see them after the honeymoon.

Engagement shoot with Chris and Katie

The last couple of weeks have seen a big flurry of wedding activity here at Julian Porter Photography. Bookings for 2015 are excellent and 2016 is looking fab too and what better way to start the spring than a few Engagement shoots. We offer engagement shoots free with all of our weddings ether in the studio at the weekends or on location locally during the working week. We did this Engagement shoot with Chris and Katie at the Chilworth Manor which is local to us and ideal for these engagement shoots if our couples want an outside shoot but don’t want to travel too far.

We started in our studio going through timings of the day for next months wedding and chatting generally about the day and then headed off to chill worth for a lovely shoot.  There is so much to explore up there and it changes often, It suited Chris and Katie very well because they are getting married in a couple weeks at Bartley Lodge in the New Forest and thats a gorgeous venue.
