FuntimeFotos with tom and claire

A couple of weeks ago we joined Tom and Claire for their beautiful wedding day and we had the most fun, Part of their evening entertainment was our FuntimeFoto wedding booth and we took some awesome photos during the evening.  Its a fab way to deal with the often quiet time between the meal finishing and the evenings starting and also a great way to make your evening guests feel like part of the wedding day.

Tom and Claire get married

On Friday we joined Tom and Claire for their beautiful wedding which we had been looking forward to for a long time now.  When Tom and Claire came to see us they were excited about their day which was starting at St Mary’s church in Southampton and then moving to the Chilworth Manor hotel. We love the Church because of the vicars laid back approach and his love of running 🙂 its good to have something in common and the Chilworth manor has always been a favourite of ours and of course very local too.

We started our day with Claire at home in Rushington and she was very calm and we spent the hour taking some of the beautiful detail shots as well as Claire getting ready for her big day.  We then headed off to St Mary’s to meet Tom and the boys for a few photos, It was raining quite heavily at this point so we did a couple of shots in the doorway and let the boys get on with their morning. We met with the vicar and checked the rules again and obviously chatted running 🙂 he has actually ran one of the races that I am doing in California which was cool.

Soon Claire arrived looking fabulous and we whisked her into the warm dry church and into the beautiful ceremony. After the ceremony we took a few family photos in the church and then headed off to chilworth and once there we took Tom and Claire off for a few photos inside whilst we waited for the guests to arrive. We then spent an hour photographing the drinks reception and a few more family groups including one of my favourites the 3 Generation shot which I sort of insisted on (in the nicest possible way) .

We then went into dinner so we did our usual table shots which are always very popular and afterwards we had 3 of the funniest speeches which finished with a lovely song from the 2 best men. After the meal Sue and I took Tom and Claire outside for a few photos because thankfully the sun was out albeit briefly but it will make a nice addition to the photo. Once done we headed back indoors to setup our funtime fotobooth and a few minutes later word was out and we were pretty manic from that point on and it was so much fun.

We photographed the first dance and then headed back to the photo booth where we stayed until about 10pm.

It was an awesome wedding and it just goes to prove my point that weddings are about people and not the “perfect weather” for Tom and Claire Fridays was the Perfect weather for a perfect day.

Thanks to everyone for a fab wedding and a great time with our booth.

Here are a few photos from this wonderful wedding I hope you enjoy and love them as much as we do and look forward to your comments and seeing you again soon,

Singing in the Rain – Hampshire wedding photography by Julian Porter

A week ago I got a message from a girl asking me if by any luck we were free to shoot her wedding on the 25th August because her photographer had let her down at the last minute, well without going into the details and although we have reached our target for this year we happily said yes.  And I am so pleased that we did,  our gain was DEFINITELY the other photographers loss…….  Julian Porter Photography to the rescue hehe.  We often get calls for last minute weddings and we often book them and have great success so if you have a wedding and you want amazing photos like this then please call us on 02380 767084 !

I often go on about how amazing a wedding was and how lucky we are to do the job that we both adore blah blah blah 🙂  but here I go again haha…  We started our day yesterday with Caroline at Mums home near Romsey and 5 minutes after arriving the thunder and lightning was very apparent, although everyone was hopeful of a better afternoon Caroline (our lovely bride) was literally singing and enjoying the morning, as the day went on we shot some lovely preps whilst getting to know Caroline and the Bridesmaids Shaz and Jen 🙂  and Mum and Dad all of whom were lovely before we headed off to the amazing sir harold hillier gardens in Romsey where the ceremony was to take place to meet Rob our Groom and Simon the best man for a few lovely relaxed shots around the winter Garden, Rob works for sir harold hillier gardens although not at this location as did Caroline so this was a very important place to them.

Soon everyone was whisked into the ceremony room and Caroline arrived in time for a few family shots before heading into a waiting crowd for the most amazing intimate ceremony in a beautiful room surrounded by the most amazing trees, afterwards we were invited outside with our brollies for a few guest shots and to walk the half mile or so to Jermyn House where the drinks reception was held,  we all walked in the rain and the only thing you could hear was the clatter of brollies hitting the overlying trees and laughter 🙂  it was such a wonderful walk,  As a side note, another reason we at Julian Porter Photography uses professional cameras is the ability to shoot in all weathers, my D4’s were literally dripping wet all day yesterday but all good as you can see here!  and here!  On arriving we were greeted with copious amounts of champagne and canapés and although it was still raining we headed outside during the drier parts for the family groups which were a lot of fun,  in-between this Caroline could be seen dancing in her flip flops in the rain to the amazing band on the lawns, I tell you NOTHING could dampen Caroline’s spirit and nothing was going to ruin her day, the rain got heavier so  she kicked off her flip flops and danced some more !

After a couple of hours we all walked back from Jermyn House but whilst Sue and I walked with Caroline and Rob and took a few lovely photos along the way, everyone else had a treasure hunt, Genius idea 🙂  it told the guests after a series of clues where they were sitting for dinner.

After dinner we were entertained by Carolines’s Dad Peter, Rob and Simon with the speeches and then coffee and cake,  by this time it was 9:45pm and we still had not danced,  well apart from Caroline of course 🙂  we then had the first Dance and then lots of fun and excitement on the dance floor,  then and typically Caroline as I went to say goodbye she said, wait Jules I just want a couple of photos,  and together we ran around the room and Caroline danced with every single guest whilst I grabbed the photos, from Grandad to the flower girl,  I have not laughed so much in years.

I called this blog post “Singing in the Rain”  Caroline could be seen singing and dancing in the rain not only during the drinks reception but also the family photos, in-between courses and after dinner. Caroline I am sure you know this but you brighten up this world with your enthusiasm and I thank you so much for brightening our day.

We had so much fun on Saturday and there really was lots more going on than I could post here but the main thing was Caroline and Rob embraced their day and ignored the weather, well done guys you are in for a lifetime of love, laughter and of course singing in the rain.

We loved it…………………………

Hampshire wedding photography – Simon and helen get married at Rivervale Barn

Thursday saw our first wedding of this week with the lovely Simon and Helen at  Rivervale Barn in Yately ,   We started our day with Helen in the cottage attached to Rivervale which has to be one of the prettiest preparation rooms attached to a wedding barn in Hampshire, here we did a few preparation shots, Helen arrived about 40 minutes late 🙂 so time was tight to say the least but we managed to get everything covered between us,  After this we headed outside to see Simon and the boys for a few photos by which time the rain had started drizzling but not to be put off we headed for the gardens,  we then headed back to Helen and into the beautiful ceremony room for a lovely service.

Afterwards we headed back into the main hall for the drinks reception because it was now hammering it down with rain but with big smiles we carried on and got some fun photos including our family groups back in the wonderful ceremony barn.  We also took Simon and Helen back into the cottage for some lovely relaxed portraits just in case the weather continued although I was pretty sure it would hold up at some point,  the guests were then seated for dinner and Sue and I headed off for some food, we returned after the mains and low and behold there was a break in the weather so we took Simon and Helen out into the gardens for some great portraits. We then went into the evening with a few more photos, then cake cutting and first dance.

I was asked by a guest if I hated wet weddings and she said “I bet you feel sorry for Helen” to which I replied no I don’t hate wet weddings and no I don’t feel sorry for Helen, It had been an AMAZING wedding day and one that I am sure Helen and Simon would look back on fondly for many years to come. Rain definitely does not stop play, Sue and I are proud of what we do and wet or dry that does not change, weddings are unique, organic, personal, wonderful days and as such each deserves the very best no matter what is put in our way,  We honestly love them all 🙂   I am pretty sure looking at the smiles Helen and Simon loved their day too !

Jules
